Unexpected Use - Police Pursuit Tracking

About an hour ago, a police pursuit ended a few blocks away from my house. Turns out my Raspberry started tracking the news helicopter covering the chase close to where it began. Pretty neat if you ask me.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t able to track the police helicopters flying over, guess they don’t transmit tracking data via ADS-B?

I like your web interface and the stats you are producing from http://phpsysinfo.sourceforge.net/

I don’t see a link on your profile, can you put it up here? I’m using another stats program for the Pi and display all of the feeder programs via iframes from a drop down list… I’d be interested to see what stats your package uses.

Thanks!

When I hear a helicopter outside I have a look on my dump1090 interface.

Sometimes they’re not being tracked but still listed (MLAT - low alt). Tracked a few police helicopters.
