Trans States Airlines order 100 MRJ aircraft . . .

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp announced today that it has signed a Letter of Intent with Trans States Holdings for an order of 100 next-generation Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft - 50 firm orders and 50 options.

This really makes me wonder who dropped the ball and why it was dropped at Bombardier. I mean, in the time since they even first announced the CONCEPT of what would become the CSeries, Embraer came up with the EJets and put those into active production, Mitsubishi put together the MRJ, and it’s going into active production, and Sukohl has their SSJ production line starting to ramp up. Bombardier had a serious lead in the regional jet market for a while, and by the time they catch up, Embraer’s lead in that market is going to expand, plus they’ll have even more competition.

Is Bombardier putting everything on the success of the CSeries while keeping up maintenance of their CRJs and Dash8s, or do we see them falling back into the corporate jet world?

BL.

The CRJ line will likely be discontinued after CRJ-1000 deliveries wrap up. They’ve done all they can with that airframe.

In 10 years or so they might want to look at doing a composite/geared turbofan 50 seater, but that should be a new airframe.

I don’t think they should use a different make of plane anywhere. The ERJ’s have made the safest RJ there is. Just use them. :open_mouth:

Great way to stifle innovation and competition… :unamused:

BL.

Yep…

This makes absolutely no sense if you stop for a second and think about it.

What you are saying is once a very safe aircraft has been made then there’s no need to improve.

B707s were much safer than the props they replaced. By your logic they no airline should have ordered the 727 or 737 or Airbus 300 or etc., etc., etc. because the safest aircraft had already been built.

Come clean, will744: Aren’t you really making posts just to try to increase your posting numbers?

What is the use of having alot of posts?

You tell us… I mean, I’ve been on this forum for a little over 2 years, and you’ve been here for about 6 months…

yet your post count is coming to nearly exceed mine.

But that’s neither here nor there.

Damiross has the point. If one was the best, then we would have stopped at the Wright Flyer, wouldn’t we?

In fact, Boeing wouldn’t be any further than the B747, because Airbus wouldn’t have been around to create FBW, which the B777, B787, EJets, and the MRJ would use, let alone composites (which the EJets use), and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (which the B747-8 would use).

So like I said… If you were at the helm, you’d have the perfect way to stifle innovation and competition. Way to go. :unamused:

Yeah I’m going on 4 and he’s catching me. Quality not quantity Tyk we have that to go with

I was at Trans States for 5 years. After TW you could see AA start to chip away at their flying (and STL as a whole). Now they’re down to a handful of US flights and some UA flying. This is good. Rumors are the aircraft are going to more UA flying (I don’t know if this would be Gojet).
I think uncle Hulas should paint em red blue and gold, buy the rights to the name, slap a red TWA on the tail and take over the now desolate concourse D at STL. He owned about 3/4 of their DC9 fleet back then anyway!

Sounds to me like you are the one worried about me catching up to you in post numbers. Big deal!

Sounds to me like you need a hearing test.

Why?

according to your post you’re having trouble hearing based on what you said. Stick with the topic Junior, Trans States Airlines, Mitsubishi RJ’s.

Wilco. :stuck_out_tongue:
