I ran across this story of two F-86 Fighter Jets crashing in the mountains of West Virginia, thought maybe “you” would like to read the story. I found it very interesting. The pilots of these F-86’s ran low on fuel and landed at Kanawha(Yeager Now) airport in Charleston, West Virginia in 1950.
The entire city of Charleston was very excited about these two pilots landing at their airport. The city entertained these pilots until jet fuel was trucked in. ( Kanawha / Yeager airport had no jet fuel in that year…
