Tar1090 -- improved webinterface for dump1090-fa and readsb

Beautiful! Thank you so much for the time you invest in this, much appreciated.

Question: Is there a “blimp” icon? I pick up the Goodyear Blimp, Type=SHIP, and was wondering if there was something that more closely resembles it?

Could make it a balloon :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That would work.

Give it a try  …

maybe you can add web-link to the github address. E.g. at the bottom of the menu that pops up when the gear is clicked.

quick question:

Why is the aircraft sometimes identified differently?

To the left the original Skyview, to the right the adjusted view (tar)

to the left the aircraft type is “VENT”, on tar1090 it shows up as “ZVEH”

Next time you see it in tar1090, press ? and check the browser console.
The output would be interesting.
(needs new version i just put out)

The different type probably comes from pfclient.
Most of the time that database is good.
Might exclude the “ZVEH” type though, it’s for ground vehicles but having a type of “n/a” for those is also just fine as “ZVEH” is not a real type anyway.

ok thanks, will check it next time

Is it possible to change the table columns in the map view ?

I don’t need the column for number of msgs, but I would like bearing or direction to the plane
next to the distance . This column is not available even on the expanded table, so it may
not be computed… which seems odd.

It’s displayed for each individual aircraft as you can see in the details.
Actually the ground track is transmitted by the aircraft.

I’m not too keen on adding an additional column, but i agree that it should be there.
As for the map view, having the option to enable and disable columns is something i’d like to add.
It would be easy via a config.js file.
But i might make it easier and make it available directly from the browser.

I see the ground track (and heading in the table) , but that doesn’t tell
me which direction to look from my current position. It tells how far away it is,
unless I am missing something

Oh i misunderstood.
That’s indeed not calculated, not an obstacle though.

Selecting an aircraft and pressing F for follow should make it easy to find?

Meh i’m not sure i want to add that feature.
What would you use it for?

Love the balloon icon for SHIP (aka the Goodyear Blimp near me). Stands out! Thank you again for the tweaks!!

Can Tar1090 be accessed over the internet? I assuming I could see the regular viewer by forwarding port 8080, not sure about tat1090. I finally have everything set up at my local airport and it is working great! and would like to access from home. Thanks.

Just forward port 80.

how do i use it
wht do i do with script

You can’t use it on a flightfeeder.

You’d need a RPi or other linux computer of your own.

Quick question. When an aircraft is using both ADSB and UAT, how does this decide which to display? Is there a preferred source for data? Or based on signal strength?

For example, one aircraft I can see taking off and my list shows it as UAT…then switches over to ADSB at 18K or so. If i look at other viewers, it’s showing ADSB the entire time.

The other aircraft flips back and forth between the two, every few seconds or so. Again, other viewers show ADSB entire time. Granted this one is at my limits due to altitude/distance.

Graphs1090 do show i’m receiving the UAT signal. Just wondering! Thanks!

UAT is displayed as data source if both receivers have seen the plane in the last 5 seconds.
If one of the receivers hasn’t seen the plane in the last 5 seconds and the other receiver has, that one is displayed as data source.

Generally the more current position is used, no matter which receiver it came from and independent of which source is displayed.

It’s all a little bit of a best guess.

And technically UAT is ADS-B, so if you open skyview978, the planes are displayed as ADS-B because that’s what it is.
But you know it’s using 978 MHz UAT to transmit the ADS-B data.

As tar1090 supports displaying data from both receivers, i chose to display them as UAT even if they are technically ADS-B and UAT is only the transport medium.
That’s what most people seem to want anyway

Sounds good. I was just wondering. I like UAT being primary in that scenario, so few of them right now it’s good to know it’s working! Thanks!
