The Swiss Air Force runs regular training flights with Pilatus PC-21 trainer aircraft out of the Emmen Military Air Base.
They usually send up four aircraft that do various maneuvers at altitudes around 10,000 feet for an hour or two by Lake Biel (“Bielersee”) and Lake Neuchâtel (“Lac de Neuchâtel”), then return directly to Emmen. As far as I can tell the areas where they train aren’t restricted, military airspace.
Alas, they never fly over Bern so I haven’t gotten a chance to see them directly.
The callsigns reported by ADS-B are “COL5x” where x is a number (e.g. COL51, COL52, COL53). FlightAware seems to think that these are Columbia Airlines (a Canada-based outfit) flights.
