I have a VNA. Here you can put a simple 1090 dipole on it and move it back and forth towards the walls. It will resonate at some point. The housing company insulated the outer walls some decades ago and it seems they put some metal mesh in there so the outer stuff sticks to it.
Here is another urban legend for indoor pirates: Buy high grade coax cable. That is complete bullshit 99% of the time. Coax is for people that have their antenna outdoors, protection from weather and that cannot mount the SDR or LNA+Filter there because of the weather. In an indoor enviroment you want the SDR as close to the antenna as possible. USB cable is cheaper than high grade coax.
Edit: You want to turn your stuff into 0/1 as soon as possible.
I don’t have a fancy VNA to measure things like that, but looking at my coverage map, maybe the wall of the house right across from my south-facing window is acting as a reflector, too! That would explain why my coverage stretches out toward the northeast. It’s fascinating how our everyday surroundings turn into an accidental antenna system!
A “fancy” nano VNA is much cheaper than you think it is.

Absolutely! I totally agree. As you can see from my setup by the window, I also connect the SDR dongle directly to the antenna to avoid any coax loss.
And yes, maybe the house across the street is acting as a passive reflector for me, too!

39% CPU usage with the Airspy Mini? Or was it the RTL-SDR? In my setup based on the RTL-SDR and RPi4, CPU usage hovers around 17% at 2.56 MSPS/12. However, one of the CPU cores always shows a load between 50% and 60%…

I am uploading right now some of my data. 2.4 Msps. It will take some time. Data has been captured at the North Sea. No LNA or filter. Mobile setup with a Nooelec v5.
That is one of the setups (deich_xx). It has been captured at Neuharlingersiel, Germany on the dyke.
The netherlands data (NL*) has been captured in Lauwersoog, NL to the West of the floodgates on the dyke with the yagi pointing towards Denmark.
Getting raw data and at the same time enjoying the scenery of North Sea dikes and Dutch floodgates… This community is the ultimate geek trip where you can get a full overseas travel vibe without even boarding a plane!
SDR hardware is definitely cheaper than an airline ticket for a trip abroad, haha!
