I did all my flight training out of MFY back in 2001-2002 is the “good day” guy still working the socal radios. He had that signature way of doing “good day” on the radio. One of my instructors had met him once on a tour of socal TRACON before all the post Sept 11th security.

Years ago there was a controller at Oakland center who had a distincive voice. He would hand you off with “I’ll be looking at you” as his tag line. Good guy, I happened to be in the air when somebody said he would talk to him tomorrow and he rather sadly said “no, this is my last day.” Needless to say there were several heart felt goodbys from local crews who heard that exchange.
