Sending commands to your device is not available

I used to be able to go into SITE Configuration on the FlightAware site but since rebuilding my Pi I now get this message: “Sending commands to your device is not available because the feature is disabled locally on your device.”

Is it simply because I don’t have SSH enabled on the device ?

Thanks in advance

To enable this feature for your rebuild Pi, issue following 3 commands:

sudo piaware-config allow-manual-updates yes

sudo piaware-config allow-auto-updates yes

sudo systemctl restart piaware

Thank you I will give that a try later Today

I avoid auto updates everywhere, be it Windows, Linux, PiAware, etc.

Personal preference only. Auto updates and yours truly don’t have a good relationship.

This is a good feature to enable. I think you’ll need it in order to enter the commands @abcd567 posted.

I rarely use the site configuration page on the FA site. It’s almost always an SSH connection using Putty.

Dave,

Mangement of the containers within the ADSB.im image is done from the homepage of the feeder.

You can’t do that from the FA stats screen anymore.

So the commands @abcd567 gave you won’t work but you have to manage the setup from the management page. this is a container based platform and not just a FA image anymore.

You will find the managementpage at the http://ip.adress.of.system/systemmgmt

Under system you will find various options that you can perform like container reboot shutdown reboot system etc.

You can’t manage the system for the FA statspage anymore when using this setup.

Since it is containerbased the commands for the remote actions have been disabled.

Updating the containers is done from the management page.

How do you know Dave has ADSB.im image, and not FA image or Raspi image? I did not find any such info in his post.

Since I advised him to use that to get backup and running in his previous post.

So that’s how I know what he’s using :innocent:

Good to know many thanks for this Tom!

Because it was Tom who recommended how I could get my feeder back operational again just a few days ago
