How do I get a routing other than Direct?

I tried a couple of airport pairs, FA40/BIV and TPA/NEW and I always get only a GPS Direct route. We prefer to follow Victor airways as that makes for better location awareness.

Can FlightAware do that for me?

We rely on our database of \>100M flights to find routes that have been previously used between those airports or nearby airports. You can enter your own and once you file and fly them once, you should get offered the same route in the future.
