What do those initials mean in the Route section ? Where can i get a list of where these points are located? Thanks for a response to a dumb question by a newbie 😃

Just a quickie…

**COATE** J36 FNT BAE ONL DBL J60 HEC CIVET5

These five letter terms are intersections, invisible points around the country set up in different places.

COATE J36 **FNT BAE ONL DBL** J60 HEC CIVET5

These are generally VOR’s, which are navigational radio beacons set up around the country, sometimes on airport grounds.

COATE **J36** FNT BAE ONL DBL **J60** HEC CIVET5

These are jetways, which are almost like highways in the sky that the planes follow. For example, in the above example, the plane follows the J60 jetway from DBL to HEC.

COATE J36 FNT BAE ONL DBL J60 HEC **CIVET5**

This is a STAR, which stands for standard terminal arrival, which is a landing sequence for the plane to follow close to the destination.

A great reference for VOR’s and airspace fixes is [http://www.airnav.com](http://www.airnav.com), including lat/long coordinates.

Or, you can just go to the source of all that information:

The FAA Locations Identifier Manual
