Route question

I have question. How does FA get the “route” info? Sometimes I notice that route will be n/a and others will be full rte from orig to dest, then sometimes it is only partial route as in http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N78PG

Is this a ATC or FAA glitch?

Some times I like to compare route to my own flight planning software for fun

The route data is straight from the FAA (ATC is part of the FAA).
In the example you gave, given the short route I would say the aicraft is flying direct to the WETWO intersection then direct to the GAD vortac.

n/a generally means radar vectors or direct – or a combination of the two.
