RNAV approach in VMC

If you’re flying IFR to a towered field, the wx at the destination airport is VMC and you’re cleared for a visual approach, is there any reason ATC would not approve a pilot’s request to fly a published RNAV approach (assuming the aircraft is properly equipped)?

Thanks.

Normally your request should be approved.
Except(there is always an except) if the RNAV route is substantially different and flying it would impact other aircraft. This is why you should always pass any request that is different from the ATIS to ATC as early as possible.
