Right main collapse.

I live by Lone Star Executive airport (CXO) and the other day i drove by and i saw what looked like a PA-32 sitting on taxiway charlie at runway 14 and it looked like its right main gear collapsed, it was almost dark and i could not see very well, but it looked like it was facing the runway so i know it did not just land , turned off and then it collapsed. So could somebody give me some reasons why it would just collapse?

PA-32 covers a lot of planes, was it a fixed gear or a retractable like a lance/saratoga?

It was retractable.

All wheels or just the one?

They don’t make aircraft where only one main gear retracts. Yes, all wheels.

It would be 1 of 2 things, A part broke and rt main folded or it was misriged (adjusted wrong) and folded. the part would break due to hard landing, too much stress while exiting runway etc.

The aircraft would also be a PA-32R-??? the three question marks being the powerplant type, no “R” after 32 would make it a fixed gear!

Ok, thanks alot. And I did not know only PA-32R’s are retractable.

I said, ‘‘They don’t make aircraft where only one MAIN gear retracts.’’ That plane in the pic there has its NOSE gear retracted, not a main. By the way, what kind of plane is that?

If I read the tail number correctly

thanks. Do you happen to know how many were made?

Google is your friend: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutan_VariEze

It has a retractable nose gear but the main gear do not retract.

That there is one of them there homebuilt type aero-planes by golly…PA tried to build one in da barn next to muley, but just couldnt get that wing to glue on right, dang it…

Don’t make fun of muley, she’ll kick ya! And you will go fly’in out of that barn, and ya won’t need that aero-plane!

New meaning to “Barnstorming” :stuck_out_tongue:

Some cat around here has a long-EZ and we see him now and again. Unique bird.

  See you made a funny too.

Thank you very much.

gravity.

If it was gravity, then wouldn’t every gear collapse all the time?(if it was retractable)
