No, you download / execute the install script on the RPi.
GitHub - wiedehopf/graphs1090: Graphs for readsb / dump1090-fa / dump1090 (based on dump1090-tools by mutability)
So, once I get PuTTY to load again I used commands inside of it to download that file?
Well, it’s just the one command just as it says ?

Thanks,
Did that now ???
The graph link does not work… http://192.168.x.yy/perf (I entered the local IP address)
Well it should.
If the image is older than 2 years, just reimage with a fresh image …
( For Beginners - How to Get Back Existing Station Number in A Fresh Install)
Otherwise make sure that /dump1090-fa works, maybe you have the IP wrong?
Show the error, “does not work” can have multiple reasons.
You can check the lighttpd log if you want:
Debug commands · wiedehopf/adsb-wiki Wiki · GitHub
I get this… 404 - Not Found… for when I follow the link http://192.168.x.yy/perf and I change the x.yy to my local IP that the FA is on…
Let me try to see if I can understand the other parts you wrote…
That’s not the section on lighttpd.
Also you didn’t answer if http://local_ip/dump1090-fa works?
And i’ll ask again, how old is the image (updates don’t matter, the base operating system version is stuck like win xp)
@moone
If I were in your place, instead of breaking my head with debugging, I would rather re-image microSD Card with latest Piaware SD Card image. Easy.
Instructions:
https://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/build
image download link:
PiAware on Raspbian Linux 3.8.1 ZIP
Ok… So I re-imaged the SD card.
Went through the steps and configured my wireless network info and put it back into the Pi
Went to PuTTY and entered the unique identifier.
I figured out how to get the graphs part to load correctly. YEA!!
So, it looks like after not realizing a few obvious things, and 2 hrs of WTF, I have it working.
Graphs are running (don’t know what’s good or bad with them) and the site is showing back up again
Thanks!!!
I do not see a graph of % of messages…
Which one should I be looking for?
Thanks
Next time try the post linked below. It is for ver 3.8.0, but fully applicable to current ver 3.8.1 (except the image download link at start of the post which will download old version 3.8.0 instead of current 3.8.1)
Howto : Piaware SD card image 3.8.0 Quickstart Guide
Thanks but that was the easy part.
Typing in the commands into PuTTY and then realizing how to paste the commands was the WTF moment…
Then reading the next line to get it to complete the command was another as I got some success and then thought it was over.
Question… Does PuTTY have to be on the same network for it to work?
Try this: http://192.168.x.y/graphs1090
the /perf is an alias of this one. You need to replace x.y with the current IP of your device
if nothing runs, login to your device using Putty and run
sudo systemctl status graphs1090
It should come up with something like this:
graphs1090.service - graphs1090 graph generation
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/graphs1090.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Mon 2020-08-17 14:28:25 CEST; 6 days ago
Main PID: 371 (service-graphs1)
Tasks: 3 (limit: 3862)
CGroup: /system.slice/graphs1090.service
├─ 371 /bin/bash /usr/share/graphs1090/service-graphs1090.sh
├─21770 /bin/bash /usr/share/graphs1090/graphs1090.sh 2h 0.7
└─21983 rrdtool graph /run/graphs1090/system-localhost-disk_io_octets-2h.png.tmp --start end-2h -c GRID#FFFFFF --gr
Important is the line status “active (running)”
Yes, this is missing in the following howto. I realized this later, but I cannot add it as FA forum blocks editing of posts older than a month or so.
For Beginners - How-to SSH to RPi - Setup Putty in Windows
However I could add it to my similar howto in FR24 forum as editing a post is never blocked there. Just go there and scroll down to last screenshot in that post
How To Access and Control RPi from Desktop/Laptop using SSH
once you have putty working and are comfortable and have downloaded Wiedehopf’s graphs look at the top graph
note the red colored data along the x axis. the Messages > -3dBFS. the legend will tell you what percentage your current gain setting is generating. (in the image shown it’s 0.8%)
How did you get the graph to post on here?
Mine is showing 3.3% of messages
Another question… Will I be able to view the graphs when I am on a different network? I have to leave again for a few weeks so if I cannot see these I will have to wait.
Thanks
Thanks, got the graphs to load now. Do not know how to copy and post them here.
On a Windows machine you can use the snipping tool to cut and paste the graphs. That is how I do it.
You can also right-click on the image in your web browser and select “Save Image As”, and then upload the image as an attachment to your post with the little “picture” button in the post editor.
