Reduction in aircraft - Gain issue

Hopefully! Here we go

Those look fine as far as I can determine, you could look back a little further over time to compare.
The variation in the ā€œred lineā€ from your first graph shows your receiver is adapting to the strong signals nearby, this should enhance your reception of that kind of traffic.

OK, so the gain line not being a flat line at the top is good then. That being said, Iā€™m guessing that itā€™s going to be difficult to be sure of an improvement given the aircraft numbers is far from being a constant. Can I compare it against another site (mine) same location but a crappy internal antenna and with all settings on default. If that site picks up more aircraft on a given day, should my main site (with tweaked gain) also pick up more?

BTW, thanks to all here, Iā€™m learning all the time it seems.

The gain line not being flat is a good thing since the site compensates for the changes in signal strength relatively close to your location.

Comparison is only useful against a site with a similar setup.
I have a site with a FA dongle but a mediocre antenna that scores substantially less aircraft then the same setup with a good quality antenna.
All other items are the same in those setups, I call the setup with the mediocre antenna my test system so I can see the effect of the changes I make prior to changing my other setups.
So comparing them isnā€™t really making sense then since the numbers on the mediocre site will always be less.

The odds of your lesser system picking up more is small but you could monitor if improvement there is followed by your better site.

I donā€™t mean the lesser system is picking up more in total than the better system, but more compared to itself yesterday whereas the better system has picked up less compared with itself yesterday.

This is where you call in the test engineering group to take a closer look at the variables and results. Yikes!

Thatā€™s totally dependable on the exact configuration and location.I have antennas on both sides of my apartment and depending on weather and wind conditions they can be quite different on the same day and then they are only 7 meters apart from each other. So thereā€™s a lot depending on location and flightroutes etc etc. I can have aircraft today as close as 0.5 miles and tomorrow they can fly 5 miles away due to a change in approach or wind direction. Other variable is the supply of traffic that can differ daily. For example Tuesday is a quieter day on EHAM then a Monday or Friday in traffic volumes

Is anyone else seeing an issue suddenly with their gain? I didnā€™t change anything and now am seeing this with a reduced number of aircraft.
