Record low altimeter settings in CA storm

My altimeter in Long Beach is 29.21 this morning…the lowest this instrument has ever recorded ( since 1988). And it is still dropping. Up in the SFO Bay area the altimeter settings are around 29.10 or lower.

THE CENTRAL PRESSURE OF THE LOW IS PROJECTED TO BE AROUND

…ALL-TIME RECORD LOW BAROMETRIC PRESSURE SET AT EUREKA CA…

AN ALL-TIME RECORD LOW BAROMETRIC PRESSURE OF 28.90 INCHES (979MILLIBARS) WAS SET AT EUREKA CA YESTERDAY. THIS BREAKS THE LONGSTANDING RECORD OF 29.91 INCHES MEASURED IN FEBRUARY OF 1891.

It’s an El Nino year - it’s to blame for everything from barometric pressure to the economy to that republican getting elected in Mass.

980 or so MBs? Thats damn near if not hurricane weather pressure!

29.01 at KSBP right now.

29.23 and dropping near my house… And the worst part of the storm is ramping up here, with forcast wind gusts of 60 kts. :open_mouth:

This is some good stuff.

KSMF: 28.96.
KRNO: 28.96.
KMHR: 28.93.
KSFO: 28.93.
KLAS: 28.97.
KSAN: 29.30
KLAX: 29.17.

Looks like NorCal has the best chances of making FL200 unusable.

BL.

My barometer bottomed out at 29.08 here in Long Beach. The needle is so far over to the left of the dial, it looks like it is broken or something.

I bet controllers stumbled all over their tongues today reading altimeters!!!
( Or called maintenance claiming that their digital altimeter indicators were looking really weird).

And it looks like the new record low setting for LAX will be 29.07 unless it moves down again when the low moves closer tonight.

The pressure according to my thermometer/barometer combination, is at 28.85 and falling. It was at 29.05 a dozen hours ago.

I’m in the East Bay community of Castro Valley, CA.

Out near Crow Canyon Road?

Close. I live on Grove Way (the road Crow Canyon turns into).

The current (1847 PST) pressure is now 28.90

29.14 when I flew this morning in NorCal
