Raspberry Pi Feeder Error

Installed the piaware deb package which is running fine.
I had Dump1090 already installed previous to installing piaware.
Now I have an error every time I try to update packages. This is related to dump1090.
When I enter
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get update
The output
Setting up dump1090 (1.1-1) …
insserv: script fadump1090.sh: service dump1090 already provided!
insserv: exiting now!
update-rc.d: error: insserv rejected the script header
dpkg: error processing dump1090 (–configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:

I take it that this is an error from fa version of dump1090 is trying to install and configure it but it cannot as my version is running.

I wish to keep my existing dump1090 Malcom Robb fork, not piaware version.
How can I stop this error ?
I installed the piaware deb package (fa dump1090 1.1 included) .
The feeder side of things is fine with no issues, its just annoying when upgrading other packages.

Is there a feed only .tgz or similar without fa version of dump1090, with install instructions ?
Or a way to remove the dump1090 v1.1 installer.

Thanks in advance.

I’d get another SD card and start from scratch - that way you can preserve your old config, while moving forward.

The world has moved on since the MR fork of dump1090 - many people here are using dimp1090-mutability which has been developed from the MR fork and incorporates the FA changes, then has had many enhancements to improve detection etc.

Edit one of the two conflicting init.d files and change the Provides: line in the header so they have different values.

Worked 1st time, Thanks so much obj

I will think about a possible upgrade to Dump1090 Mut , Cheers PeterHR.
