Q400 bathroom without a sink

In recent days Alaska Airlines has made the news with their Q400 bathrooms without a sink for washing hands. So here’s a number of questions surrounding this topic:

  1. Is Alaska Airlines the only airline that has chosen to outfit their Q400 restrooms without a sink, or is it just they way the aircraft comes?
  2. Is there space to put a sink in?
  3. Why has this issue suddenly surfaced, so long after the the Q400 started production?
  4. Am I the only one to find this a bit nasty?

It appears that Horizon was sent a warning letter from the FDA. Note that the FDA issue is handwashing facilities for the flight attendants serving drinks.

The focus is on food service. Passenger lavatories do not seem to be mentioned.

I wonder if they realize how eager comedians will be to take advantage of the opportunity to make jokes, such as not washing hands with ice. It also makes Alaska seem even more uncomfortable to visit. I hope the bathrooms will at least have enough room and facilities to care for infants.

they probably have the alcohol foam dispensers instead of a sink.
