Polish Carrier Exin, AN-26B emergency landing frozen lake


Polish Cargo Antonov AN-26B SP-FDO of Exin performed an emergency landing on a frozen lake, 500 meters short of the runway at Tallinn International Airport in Estonia. (March 18 2010)

Aircraft reported landing gear problems, and performed a ‘go-around’, on second landing attempt, the aircraft lost power.

Either that’s snow built up around it, or their meaning of frozen and my meaning of frozen are two different things.

Can’t do that in August!

This time of year, I’m sure the ice is getting thinner. Plus the weight of an AN-26 impacting it at high speed might help break the ice, so to speak.

There is some spectacular precision taxiing towards the end of the clip. I love how he just pulls up out of the water using the ramp, with just a few feet of clearance on either side.
