It seems a certificate is expired, I reinstalled Piaware on a system Site 153719 to be exact and now it isn’t able to connect to the piaware server anymore:

I think someone has to fix the certificate, in the meantime, don’t lose your connection since you won’t be able to get reconnected after a reboot
I will probably lose my streak on this system, unless they are able to fix it withinh 24 hrs

You’re right. Rebooted one of my systems and it now shows same error messages as above.

Can confirm on my #219175 as well. Shut down for a hardware change, came back up with same error. Local display shows planes received so all is working, just the certificate issue.
Happened RIGHT after issuing an apt update command. Have been troubleshooting for nearly two hours to figure out what I broke.
Relieved to find it is not on my end.
The same issue appeared 10 years ago, when searching for this error I found the old post and that is almost identical to this issue.

Same here. And to think, I was all proud of myself for finally cleaning up the wires for my attic installation. Teaches me for rebooting the dang thing. I’m guessing we wait for a new package?

I’ll also note the remote server isn’t even acknowledging a ClientHello. It just drops connection.. that’s showing up in the log as an eof, but a little more detailed when connecting with openssl.
Saw an alert about errors several hours ago and just now got a chance to dig into the logs and look, seeing the same thing.

Same issue for me, just finish doing a fresh install of my setup and bang.
Same issue here, did some network changes earlier today and thought I broke something.
I am seeing the same thing, did update and could not reconnect, tried backup system, same result.
Nope we wait for the certificate to be renewed and then you should be able to connect again. It’s a serverside issue that has to be fixed by FA, nothing we as user can do at the moment, just be patiënt since it is the weekend this might be resolved on Monday, hopefully sooner but I wouldn’t count on it
Interesting thing in the logs, is that the expired certificate may be an intermediate CA in the path?

Actually, the cert that’s expiring isn’t the server cert.. it’s the FlightAware Intermediate certificate that’s packaged with the distribution. That intermediate lives on the client side and is what PiAware uses to decide whether it trusts the server’s certificate when it connects.
Even if FA updates their server cert, the connection will still fail until a new intermediate is provided through a client update or other means. Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution!
