PiAware box network plug shows no activity after 160 days

After 160 days of continuous use the PiAware stopped working. The network plug (RJ-45) lights are not illuminated at all. No activity. The plug or network connection appears dead. Is there any way to reset this? Yes, I have tried connecting to multiple different known valid connections with no activity lights. Boots up fine after multiple restarts, still no network activity.

It is a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B

Thanks

If you disconnect all USB items, does it make a difference? The Red LED is always on solid? (no blinks).

If a No, and a Yes to above,
You might have a dead port.

It is a No and a Yes, so dead port means a failed unit? Solution is to replace? Do these things have any warrantly? It is only five months old.

Thanks

The usual reason the Ethernet port dies is due to static build up on the antenna - there is no connection to ground anywhere else - so if there’s a voltage build up, it’s the ethernet port that dies.

Just need to run a grounding connection for shield of the co-ax downloaded to ground.

Needs a new Pi (get a Pi 2)

Well it is all back up and running again. It turns out it was a software issue. I’m not sure if it auto updated and failed doing so, but I put a new image of 2.1-2 on SD card it it is working fine. The last image I put on the SD card was 1.20-1.

Thanks for the help.
