LOCKERBIE bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi, who has prostate cancer, is to be freed from a British jail on compassionate grounds, media reports say.
Megrahi is serving life with a minimum term of 27 years over the downing of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish village of Lockerbie, which killed 270 people in 1988.
Both the BBC and Sky News today reported the former Libyan agent was expected to be returned to his homeland following an announcement by Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill next week.
The Scottish Government said last month that it had received an application for his release on compassionate grounds.
The 57-year-old, who lost an earlier appeal in 2002, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.
This is pure bullshit but what do you expect from a country as liberal as the USA is becoming. I hope the guy dies an ugly death from his prostrate cancer. He’s nothing but a son of a pig (those more insulting to him than calling him a son of a bitch due to his “religion”.
What about compassion to the families and friends of the people he MURDERED on Pan Am 103?
While I don’t share his enthousiasm I do kind of agree with David. That would be like the United States letting Timothy McVeigh out for the same reasons.
*"Scotland’s government denied it has already decided to release Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds, saying that decision hasn’t yet been made.
British broadcasters Sky News and BBC reported Wednesday that al-Megrahi, who is terminally ill with prostate cancer, could be freed from prison as early as next week.
However, Scotland’s justice minister told Scottish Television later Wednesday that the decision “will be made next week.”
A spokesperson for Scottish First Minster Alex Salmond called the reports “complete speculation,” said Reuters."*
I can imagine how enraged the Scottish public are over it being released thru the press in this manner. I’ll assume families involved are well aware of the situation in advance - and it’s soundly like there is nil options for release.
However prostate cancer care in Tripoli would probably kill him faster!!!
Guys, I can’t believe it’s true: We are all on the same page on this one. Maybe different techniques or variations on his demise, but I think we’d all participate.
Or how “liberal” the world’s views have gotten - as well as how little people respect the value of life. I read on foxnews that his served sentence equals 11 days/per life taken in that terrorist act. I was hoping that someone would snipe him at his destination airport, but he was greeted as a hero/martyr.
