Thinking of retiring the G2, looks like a good place to take it.

Gee, I don’t know why but the Cincinnati sectional indicates this is a hazardous airport!
lol
I’m not sure where he gets 7/25 for the runway. After looking at Google Earth it looks more like 7/33…
Quit complaining guys - where else can you get a landing and some talledega practice in at the same time?
Ahh yes… Swope Farm…
Some of the VATSIM and LiveATC guys had a discussion about this one a few years ago. It’s a good one, but while you have the turn in the runway, it’s nothing like having the ravine to worry about. with that in mind, Soldier Bar USFS Airport takes the cake.

You mean that little coon track in the mountain is a landing strip!?!
I’ve never heard of that place either tyketto, so I looked it up and found these:

and much better, a takeoff:
I think I have landed there on FSX. Very cool!
Soldier bar is good but I still think Mile Hi is the best US strip. Although you have to love a strip that is so rough the stall warning horn is still going off 8 seconds after landing.

There are a bunch of video’s by the same guy.

I don’t have a license, I’ve only been along for the ride in some mountain flying trips, but I gotta say they are a ton of fun.
Landing on grass, taking the fishing pole out, walking 30 paces to the river to fish, and then back out… most of my rides have been in ID.
Find someone with a floatplane license - you can skip the walking to the river or lake and just fish from the plane!

“Sully’s Hunting and Fishin Charters”
Ret. Capt Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger will pick you up in his Cessna Float plane and fly you to your destination. You’ll stay in his luxury lakeside cabins for a week, hunting, fishing, drinking, eating and just building memeories. Then Sully will pick you up and personally fly you home.
Sully don’t need floats…
Ha good call. I gotta admit the floatplane trip I took this summer was pretty dang cool. I guess as long as the landing plane doesn’t scare the fish away
I have a Just Planes DVD about Lynden Air Cargo. One of the flights shown is to a place called Sparrevohn. Read the write-up about it in the AF/D
In another DVD I have on Reeve Aleutian’s Electra operations, Unalaska is visited. At this airport, the pilot needs to key the mike on 122.6 seven times to turn on the light. That is, the stop light at the end of runway 30! (Three times turns it off.)
