Odd NW Diversion????

I was browsing through a list of diversions of flights bound for MSP and the top top one on this page:

mspupdate.com/delays/delays030107.htm

struck me as odd. Why would a flight from Utah to Minnesota divert to Baltimore? I lloked an Salt Lake-Minneapolis-Baltimore is the flight line, but how many passengers on the SLC-MSP flight were really going onto BWI?

The first leg of the flight is from SLC to MSP. The 2nd leg of the flight is from MSP to BWI.

It couldn’t land at MSP due to weather, so it flew on to its 2nd stop. It’s not so much about the pax as it is having the airplane in place to continue on from BWI to where ever it was going from there.
