NWA11 Turned Back?

Flightaware doesn’t seem to have this? Northwest 11 (747) which was headed out of DTW to Tokyo could not raise the landing gear so they had to burn off fuel and return once they got down to landing weight. It would have made an interesting flight track because they were full at the beginning of their flight and probably had to go around all over the place burning fuel.

The 747 can dump fuel.
I found a picture of NWA11 dumping fuel last November on airliners.net.

That is a great picture.

I was driving home down Beck Rd. from the Doctor and saw that 747 doing laps around Plymouth, Salem, Northville, etc, dumping fuel. Funny thing, he was only at about 10k feet. Not something you see every day!
