no tracking data

I was tracking Mesaba 5762 (Northwest Airlink commuter flight) on 7/20/2009 and all I saw was static flight information - no map updates, no data updates.

Is this a system problem?

THanks,
Randy

I just checked another flight status website and they indicated the flight was delayed and hasn’t left the airport yet…it would be nice to KNOW this by looking at the FlightAware site. I shouldn’t have to INFER there’s an issue if I don’t see data changing. There should be a flight status indication that says something besides “SCHEDULED”.

Welcome to FA.

I think after a specified time,it will say “Delayed” This is a flight tracking website not connected to airlines. Sometimes at a busy airport, a flight will be in a LONG line of airplanes waiting to go. But if there is a “ground stop” it might show delayed after a while.

The other poster before me is correct in the fact that some flights will show up as delayed, but this takes quite a bit of time, and is in no way connected to the airline. I’m sure someone can specify exactly how long this takes.

Flightaware is based on wheels up to wheels down times from the aircraft status display to industry feed, which is publicly available from the FAA air traffic control system. Airline information is not considered, nor is it available here. You may want to check out the FA “FAQ” page, as it answers quite a few questions.
