I purchased the basic kit from FA and tried setting it up at my home. I am able to connect to the internet and get an IP address but the FlightAware feed says not connected and I can’t claim the device.
Try this:
PiAware - build your own ADS-B ground station for integration with FlightAware - FlightAware
Follow all the way through the steps, SECTION 5 is where you CLAIM your device.

I connected a keyboard to my pi and ran sudo apt-get update and then reboot
This resolved the issue!
unfortunately the 2 options in that section didn’t work for days, but today I first whitelisted the IP of the pi, then ran sudo apt-get update, reboot and I was able to connect and claim!
Where did the IP need Whitelisting?
