New installation - RPi OS from scratch, or ready image?

Hi Guys.

I like to install one more RPi and put it in a different location.
what is best and fast way to install RPi OS today ?
I like to feed:

  1. FR24
  2. FlightAware
  3. RB24
  4. adsb exchange

Should I use a ready image (like Piaware5)
or better to install OS from scratch ?

Both is possible, it depends on your personal taste.

I prefer the OS only version and then install the different feeder scripts.
There’s a nice setup possible from @wiedehopf giving you the web interface
and a reliable dump1090-fa alternative in one shot:

Automatic installation for readsb · wiedehopf/adsb-scripts Wiki · GitHub

After that you only need Piaware and the scripts for the other feeders → done

Additionally some nice and helpful graphs are also possible:

I am resetting my device for testing once in a while and with your details it’s back running in less than an hour

That’s the complete guide which should cover most of it what you asked for.

The piaware image really isn’t much different except that it enforces the decoder to be dump1090-fa.
Well i suppose you could circumvent this but it doesn’t really make sense.
