If I pull up the track of my aircraft, N34865 (Cessna 177), it sometimes shows a King Air instead. Flightwise does this too. The King Air’s radio call is listed as N34865. Example:
Yep, looks like that’s all it was. I’m surprised ATC doesn’t do any sort of cross check when someone calls in or files, possibly transponder/tail number or equipment type/tail number. Anyway, thanks, good find.
That would require a certain amount of sophistication on the part of the FAA . I don’t know how old their software is, but I’m betting it’s not from this century.
