Multiple Filed Flight Plans.

If two or more flight plans are filed they all show up on flightware even though obviousely only one can be flown. The others result in either a diverted statment or results unknown.

example aircraft WWI72

That is true.

FlightAware just accepts data from the FAA. The pilot or aircraft operating company is the one that files the multiple flight plans.

Or in the case of my Father In-Law, RVS Clearance was so used to him going from RVS - 2V1, they put that in as the flightplan instead of RVS-PIE. It was corrected a little later when my FIL hung a left instead of a right.

This is annoying especially when United does it.

I’ll talk to United and have the cease and desist doing this immediately.

That’s all I ask :stuck_out_tongue:

I used to fly a Lear 35 flight from KBUR-KCMH. Everynight we had 3 flight plans filed. All three were the same up to around LAS. At which point we knew which way the jet stream was blowing, and we would “activate” the best one. Then we’ld go North over St. Paul, South over OK, or straight on through over DEN. If the winds just weren’t there we’ld come down to FL330 (at FL330 we had our highest TAS and therefore the fastest we could fly) and do Mach .82 till we needed a fuel stop, usually around KIND.

Most of the extra flight plans will be canceled by ATC. Very few of them will cause us to log a false diversion or show flight result unknown. However the multiple flight plans often accompany international flights, which of course always have an unknown result.
