I will be in Japan for a while in 3 weeks and as I have a spare Odroid I will take it with me to track aircrafts in Tokyo. I read some confusing messages in the forum about moving the location in 1° steps, while somebody wrote the receiver will adjust after an our or so (which it did not for the OP). I am not really happy with the idea of changing the location 118 times (and than back 118 times), so what is the best solution? Is the FA team able to move the location before I head to Japan?
Then I’m looking forward to add coverage to Hiroshima, Osaka and Tokyo.
Looking at the coverage map for Japan and there is really room for improvement. Position in Hiroshima will be good, Osaka so so (both locations just for some days), but my usual apartment in Tokyo has a really good view (12th floor) to both Haneda and Narita airport. I’m pretty curious!
I just moved from Hong Kong to Tokyo and had no problems updating the lat/long.
Unfortunately my apartment is not in the best location in Tokyo, only around 500 aircraft per day and max range of 100miles.
I am thinking of getting the FA antenna to see if that helps.
I won’t move to Tokyo, I’m just travelling to Japan regularly. When I’m in Tokyo I stay in an apartment near Kinshicho station on Sobu Main line. close to Kinshi park (better than the tiny hotel rooms). View to Haneda and Narita is good (12th floor), just the view to the south east (Disney Sea) is not so good. There is a balcony where I can mount the antenna. I am really curious about the number of planes I’ll catch from there (I get ~2700 to 2800 at my home location).
