Monitoring your ADB-S/MLAT Raspberrypi Station

Hi guys,

Just in case you find it interesting, since I had already another Raspberrypi3 acting as a “NAS” and monitoring solution for al the hardware (lawnmower, vaccum robot, weather station, etc, etc) that I have at home…I decided to create a dedicated section to monitor my new “addition” and this is what it looks like:

If you interesting in setting-up something similar…I can tell that you that possibilities are endless!..
It’s called RPi-iMonitor! and here are a few pointers to fulfill your curiosity:

In case you are interested and need help, I would be glad to help! If you are using any other monitoring solutions, by all means, please feel free to share your setup!

All the best,
Gizmo

RPi-Monitor is not maintained any longer. There might be concerns newer Raspberry OS versions aren’t supported any longer.

Latest release is from 2017

Just sayin… I am using it as well on one of my devices.

True, but is still quite lightweight to run…do you know/use any other solutions?
Cheers,
Gizmo

Depends on your needs and expectations.

I am more a fan of a central monitoring. If your Pi goes down, it takes RPI-Monitor with it.

My network devices (plus the feeder) are monitored via Checkmk, but it is a complete different solution. You can also add services which are monitored wether running or not.
And it requires additional hardware (can be a virtual server)

Ah, check_MK, I know that one since 10 years ago or so…they used to develop plugins for Nagios-based monitoring..

That’s why I have one RPi3b acting as NAS/Samba server/Device monitor + separate rpi4 as a feeder..

you might want to edit out your external ip adress of the ftp server  some people are not that friendly towards exposed ip adresses :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

ehhe, it’s not the IP address of the FTP server ;), but thanks eheheh
