Min and mid graphs

Do you use Al Kissack’s range maps? I understand that max range, but how are the min and mid range curves determined?

Here’s a sample from my feeder. Blue is max range, green mid, and brown min. But what are mid and min measuring?

It would be reasonable to expect they are max range at progressivly lower altitudes.

I was thinking about that. There are checkboxes to hide/show them, so until I find out what they’re actually measuring, I’m hiding them.

So it seems mid is measuring median. Min is probably measuring closest, which, for me, is meaningless since aircraft frequently fly directly overhead at heights from 1000 feet up to 60,000+ (Google balloons). I can see where it might be meaningful for someone not close to flight paths.

But maybe that’s not what it is unless it’s maximum minimums, because otherwise I’d expect the min graph to be very close to my location.
