In my recent trip with Malindo Air (Malaysia) - OD807 en route KUL-SIN at seat 22, taken photo of this. Not quite sure this B737-900 design but definitely looking something missing here. Can someone advise?
Just a fairing nothing mechanical … It was fine. Cost them some gas for the fairing evens
out airflow stopping drag bubbles off the back. They more than likely had one on order and
needed revenue.
Inside the faring is the mechanicals to control the Flaps. The faring is to lower the drag compared to having the control arms out in the open air.
On smaller and slower planes you can see the mechanicals out in the open air.
