Longshot Question

On April 08, 1982, scheduled to leave at 6:35PM, were the Duncanville High School Band, Flag Corp, chaperones and supporters. Braniff had given the school a discount to charter a 747 to fly from DFW airport to England so that the band could lead the Battersea Easter Parade that year.

My question is, is there any way to get the tail number of the airplane? We’re trying to even establish which model of 747 it was. I have two brothers who remember two different models. I have a grainy photo somewhere, but it doesn’t show a tail number. I believe this was one of the last flights made by the plane, at least as Braniff.

The same crew was on the return trip a week later. I think the plane remained in England for their stay there.

A classmate posted this photo. Judging by the location of the door (just in front of the I in International), this is the 747SP.

That is most likely N601BN (aka Big Orange), the first 747SP purchased by Braniff though it could be N602BN, the second.

It is not Big Orange. Look where the second door is located. With Big Orange, the door is further aft. The boarding bridge is against the plane covering the door.

Braniff had three 747SP aircraft. They were essentially the same.
