Is there any way to discuss specific flight on forum?

I mean would be nice to have direct link from flight info to the specific topic on forum. That way passengers and pilots can share experience and it will give additional value to the web site

Not available here. I’ve seen something like that on another Web site like Expedia or Travelocity - can’t remember for the life of me what specific site it was.

I’d suggest submitting the idea to the “Feature Requests and Ideas” forum to ensure it is not overlooked.

You propose a link from thousands of flights each day to a dedicated forum for each flight, on the off chance that the pilots of a commercial flight feel like dropping by to “share experiences”? I’m gonna guess that this one is gonna be a non starter!

You could always create a Facebook group for that flight. (KIDDING!!!)

Actually, there is a way a user could add a comment about the flight. In between the map and the flight history, there is an option to “Add a Remark for this flight”. That would also work.

I put a “Test comment” here: flightaware.com/live/flight/AAL1

Downside is that the comment is attached to that specific day, so tomorrow (Friday), you will have to click on Thursday’s flight to see the comment.

For some reason I don’t see your comment.

2FlyNYC: It’s not necessary to create topic BEFORE user click on the link to discuss the flight. So there is no overhead. There are some flights which can create some buzz like 1549 or Boeing test flights.

That’s only visible to the poster and (I think) to the poster’s flight crew.

DOH!!! Forgot about that.

Dad-gummit, Pika! It WAS FlightAware that I saw this feature!

But IIRC, you have to be a member of the commenter’s “flight crew” to be able to see the comment. And if you can’t see the comment, you can’t know who wrote the comment to know whose flight crew to join.

A lot of “gotchas” that make this feature dysfunctional.

You can create a topic in the forums for any flight you’d like to discuss.

Sure I can do that but the point is in link on the page like flightaware.com/live/flight/JBU1 … /KBOS/KJFK to connect the flight and discussion

So if I interpret the sentence above correctly you would like to have a discussion on a particular flight. So why don’t you do what was suggested?

  • Create a topic and call it JBU1009 flight on 4 Mar 10

  • In the first posting (yours) say "This is a cool* flight: JBU1009 4 Mar 10 "

-Then sit back and wait for the millions of responses to pour in.

*Or, if you want to think you are really cool, you can spell it “kewl” like the fools (fewls?) do.

People don’t start from forum (usually)
So it should be other way around: link FROM flightaware.com/live/flight/JBU1 … /KBOS/KJFK to new topic

PS. How you got -3219 posts ?

Long story…

There’s the difference that I didn’t think about. I usually start in the forum.

It seems that once you reach 5,000 postings the forum software can’t handle it. It starts you back at -5,000 and then you have to work you way back up. So, when I get to 10,000 postings it will show 0 again.

wow…that is sooo kewl…

don’t you mean “sew kewl”?

 nooo fewl!!! seeewwww kewl…

Soooo Duuummmbbb…

I just spit Stoli out my nose on this thread…
