I mean would be nice to have direct link from flight info to the specific topic on forum. That way passengers and pilots can share experience and it will give additional value to the web site
Not available here. I’ve seen something like that on another Web site like Expedia or Travelocity - can’t remember for the life of me what specific site it was.
You propose a link from thousands of flights each day to a dedicated forum for each flight, on the off chance that the pilots of a commercial flight feel like dropping by to “share experiences”? I’m gonna guess that this one is gonna be a non starter!
You could always create a Facebook group for that flight. (KIDDING!!!)
Actually, there is a way a user could add a comment about the flight. In between the map and the flight history, there is an option to “Add a Remark for this flight”. That would also work.
2FlyNYC: It’s not necessary to create topic BEFORE user click on the link to discuss the flight. So there is no overhead. There are some flights which can create some buzz like 1549 or Boeing test flights.
Dad-gummit, Pika! It WAS FlightAware that I saw this feature!
But IIRC, you have to be a member of the commenter’s “flight crew” to be able to see the comment. And if you can’t see the comment, you can’t know who wrote the comment to know whose flight crew to join.
A lot of “gotchas” that make this feature dysfunctional.
There’s the difference that I didn’t think about. I usually start in the forum.
It seems that once you reach 5,000 postings the forum software can’t handle it. It starts you back at -5,000 and then you have to work you way back up. So, when I get to 10,000 postings it will show 0 again.
