Is my Raspberry struggling with CPU load?

Edit: Installed an active hub, hope that was the solution

Hi people,

I have upgraded from a simple Jetvision dongle to Pro Stick Plus, and the increased reception is amazing (up to 130 imperial miles with indoor antenna)

However it is new that two times now all planes vanished, 0Msg/s, while dump1090-fa was still up and running

I think my original 1st Gen Raspberry might be struggling with the load? Or is the USB not supllying enough power?

Thank you for your help on this, hoping to get it stable!

This is the log:

The dongle going silent usually means power problems, not CPU problems.

(by “1st gen” do you really mean an original 1B? That hardware was… not great)

Yes, 1B, 256MB RAM
I will get an active hub probably, I’d hate to see it go to waste as it seems to be doing quite well otherwise for the task at hand

IIRC there is a max_usb_current config.txt setting that may be useful on older Pis, if you don’t have that set already (newer models don’t need the setting, AIUI). Or yeah, a powered hub should help.
