Can flightaware track the number of total hours flown in a day, week, year,etc, by type of aircraft. This would be interesting to know for statistical evaluation of accidents per hour flown
I believe any total hours by type would be, at the best, just a rough estimate. The reason is because the type of aircraft shown for any given flight is not always the actual type of aircraft flown. This is not he fault of FlightAware but of the data that FlightAware receives.
Once you have used FlightAware for a while, you will see what I mean.
Not to mention that what we see is “flight time” and not “block time.” In other words most accidents are on approach and landing. We don’t “see” the a/c after it lands on FA.
