Help requested with outdoor setup with poor reception

Today I have placed a NoElec SmartSDR + Flightaware external Filter. Results were instant, and all is well. I’ll make some scans again and let you know.

the wifi dongle in the second pi was meant to test exactly that behavior - normally both pi are connected via ethernet to an airport-express. no - zero bad influence from the wifi dongle to the generic sdr dongle - same with two pi zero w - i never found the smallest downside at my site when using wifi very near to the sdr-dongle …

I guess it could depend on the specific dongle and frequency in use – I was connected over 2.4 GHz. Anyway, I got about 20% more messages after using the short extension cable.

So @skinkie what was the outcome of all this testing? Did you shield the pi and dongles ? Did you also retry the Pro Stick Plus + Flightaware External Filter?

I live outside the US, would be good if FA could develop a filter for areas with high 900-980 frequency noise.

@TomMuc i noticed that your suggestions always had a FA Antenna,

fa-antenna + blue dongle + fa-filter -> 80$
fa-antenna + generic dongle + uputronics saw/lna -> 95$
fa-antenna + generic dongle + jetvision 3-pole/cavity filter + lna4all -> 170$

have you used the Pro + with different antennas? ie Spider
