To improve Garuda’s European network, rather than flying directly from Indonesia, Garuda is much wiser using Singapore as their European hub. As a free trade port, Garuda can start and terminate in Singapore then connect its passengers from Singapore to Medan, Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar using their smaller B738 aircrafts, given the logic not all passengers from Europe wants to head over to Indonesia. If this is workable London flights will be flown nonstop by four major airlines: SQ, GA, QF and BA. So perhaps in the not too distant future, all European destinations by Garuda make a stop in Singapore on a smaller aircraft- B738, using Singapore as a ‘pooling’ hub then filling up a B773 aircraft.
On thinner routes from Denpasar, I wonder if this city could benefit from the planned A330.800 aircrafts?
