Haven’t waded through the new T+Cs yet but maybe someone from the FA staff could shed some light on what are the changes in the new T+Cs? Most companies now when they issue new T+Cs either highlight what all the changes are, or supply an extra document showing just what the changes are, making it easy for users of a service to know exactly what any changes are.
Many of the people supplying data [like me] are just hobbyists, so will just withdraw our feeds if they’re going to start charging for the service, after all they are using our feeds without cost to them.
Will someone please post a link to the new T+Cs. I have not been notified of any changes. The T+Cs dated January 31. 2024 make no mention of a $20 cost to upload data.
The only mention of $20 that I see in the new T&Cs is for if you’re late paying your bill.
As feeders, we don’t get charged for access. So from what I can tell, it does not apply unless we’re upgrading to an even greater level of access than what we get as feeders; or if we are buying data separately from our normal access level, such as buying data for flights older than 6 months.
The terms and condtions are applicable to paid subscriptions to services listed under products on the FA page.
This is not for feeders so there’s no charge for feeding to FA. They provide you with a Enterprise subscription in exchange of that but you never get an invoice for that subscription as long as you are feeding.
When you stop feeding you are downgraded after a period of time.
Someone from FA should post a clarification as to what the changes are and only send this sort notification to paid subscribers, unless they wish to join Open ADSB.
As an adsb feed provider you are subscribed to our complimentary Enterprise account, and that service is governed by our Terms & Conditions. These Terms & Conditions do not affect your adsb data feed and there are no charges for the feed. Your complimentary Enterprise account will remain complimentary. The Terms & Conditions governing that service can be modified from time to time and we notify our users in accordance with Art 16.2 of Terms & Conditions.
Please refer to our FAQ page (section, What are the benefits to me of feeding data to FlightAware?) if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to address any other concerns you may have.
