What device is it? 100% CPU for piaware is pretty unusual.
that is mine, an Orange PI with 512 MB RAM (Jetvision device)

I think it is time for Flightaware to completely re-write piaware data feeder without tcl-tls
.
Up to 2015 Planefinder were using node js
for their feeder & server, and it used to give all sorts of problems to the user. They finally decided to quit node js
and wrote new client & server software without node js
. Since then users/feeders very rarely face any issues.
There are some long-range plans along those lines, but the medium term fix is to try to work out a proper bugfix within tcl-tls itself. The difficulty there is that it’s a third-party library that we haven’t previously touched the internals of. Failing that, getting systemd to act as a watchdog is another option.
Its a Pi 3B, it’s only 100% when it stops uploading to Flight Aware.
Then you will need to check which process is causing it. Pretty impossible to identify it after a reboot
