(1) The `rtl_tesr shows both dongles are OK.
(2) pgrep ahows only dump1090-fa is running, and dumo978-fa is not running Did you restart dump978-fa before issueing pgrep command?

I thought I did but apparently it didn’t work? I reran the systemctl restart and dump978-fa now shows up w/ the pgrep.
The output of command rtl_test shows:
1: Realtek, UAT_978, SN: 00000401
The 978 dongle serial has 5 zeros followed by 401. Please open file /etc/default/dump978-fa and check the serial you entered there also has 5 zeros followed by 401. It is very likely mistake that number of zeros are different i.e. 4 or 6 instead of 5.
I can confirm that the serial number in /etc/default/dump978-fa is correct: five 0’s followed by 401.
Then the only thing I can guess is that the dump978-fa installation is corrupted. Purge it, then reinstall.
sudo apt purge dump978-fa
sudo apt autoremove
sudo apt autoclean
sudo apt install dump978-fa
Above will replace everything with a fresh copy,. The file /etc/default/dump978-fa will also be replaced by a new copy. You will have to add dongle’s serial number to it.
late reply but did you unplug each dongle and replug them back in when serializing them?
