Distances not showing up in skyaware map

They were displaying yesterday but today they are not.

Are you talking about the range rings?

Click the icon that looks like a gear and make sure “Site Position and Range Rings” is selected:

If you’re talking about the distances in the columns, click “select columns” and make sure “Distance” is selected.

Not the range rings but the column for each flight that it is receiving data for.

Distance is selected, the whole column is blank, I have all sorts of columns with populated data, just not distance

I have more than 1 receiving station and although Distance is selected as a column there is no column in the Skyaware table probably because it does not know which receiver to quote for the distance.

Interesting thought.

The feeder station has 1x 1090 and 1x 978 receiver. Going to the feeder page they share the same lat/long/elev./nearest airport location so there should be no variation in the distance information being acquired.

That being said your theory could absolutely be right.

I could disconnect one dongle, in which case there would only be one data source for the feeder page. if that resolves it then it would confirm it.

The feeder did have a location issue when I set it up yesterday where it thought it was at KORD, whird would be roughly 1400 miles away. I corrected that prior though, and rebooted.

If you have two SDRs on the same receiver, it wouldn’t (shouldn’t) cause this issue.

Do you have your Lat/Long set in your config file? Are you viewing through SkyAware Anywhere or via direct IP on your local network?

When I recently upgraded my version of piaware (two receivers, on two separate RPI’s), the distances were not recorded until I set the lat/long/elevation details. Then the data immediately showed up.

I have use-gps yes commented out with a #
If I go through my statistics page where I have manually entered my lat/long. I have verified the coordinates and it used to work until a day or two ago.

I have also used the direct ip method to display the map.

This is occurring with 2 different feeder sites.

Running 8.2 in pi4 2gb on both units. Each has 1 orange and 1 blue FA flight stick.

It is set in the ads-b
site. Not in the config. I will try entering it into piaware config.txt

I updated on the site, not the config.

In order to have distances to be seen in Skyaware Anywhere the coordinates of the 2 receivers have to be an exact match. If your sites are not on the same location then you won’t see distance in Skyaware Anywhere. Then you should use the local view per site location. Since Skyaware Anywhere is a combination of all site data together your coordinates need to be the same in both site locations in the lat/lon settings on the site page.

Thanks guys!

I will double check that those match exactly. It makes total sense.

Thanks everyone! Distance is back!
