Detroit Ground Stop (8/29/10)

Today, DTW had a ground stop around 5:30 pm local for equipment/outage according to the FAA ATCSCC. But I never found out what exactly happened. Does anyone know the root source of that ground delay?

The Ground Stop Cancellation message said:

CTL ELEMENT: DTW
ELEMENT TYPE: APT
ADL TIME: 2201Z
GS CNX PERIOD: 29/2201Z - 30/0100Z
COMMENTS: 22L ILS HAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

Don’t know if there was more to it, like a power failure or some other extenuating circumstances, but it seems a bit unusual to Ground stop for an ILS on a clear day…

yeah, especially because in most weather 22L is used for departures
