Still developing news, but details are starting to come out. According to news, it is a Comp Air 8 kit plane and at least one was killed in the crash. If the reports are correct, then it would be this flight:
They released the name of the pilot that died in the crash here at LRO yesterday as Dustin Rabe, 29, of Los Gatos, Ca. He was employed as a ferry pilot, so I guess he was on a job delivering the accident aircraft. I looked him up and found a facebook page where he lists one of his likes as Flightaware, so I assume he was a member here as well. Very sad news - seeing something tangible like his facebook page always personalizes these things - much more so than just reading a newspaper article.
RIP
Dustin Rabe was the pilot and was ferrying the plane to Antwerp, Netherlands from Florida.
Had coffee with him 3 days earlier and chatted the previous day of the crash. He was a fellow transatlantic pilot and I have counseled him many times in these matters. The world of aviation will miss him!
