Any information of why Chinook CH-47 helicopters are flying over Asheville, NC over the past several evenings?
Could be training,there are several bases in the area and National Guard units,around where i live there is no active units,but lately brand new choppers are coming in,so units maybe changing out older ones for newer ones as well,and they may use Asheville for training,looks like about 5% of their traffic is military with no active units there.
Thanks for that input mrmusicman1260. Guessing you are probably right. I know the NC National Guard has the 147 Airlift Division based in Charlotte which is only +/- 130 miles. Really something to see those beasts!
