Chinese authorities initiated crackdown on foreign ADS-B receivers

Does anyone know if Variflight’s receivers are confiscated as well or are they allowed to operate, as expected? If they are allowed then we “foreigners” who share data with variflight should stop doing that.

Do we have anyone here who shares data with them or has their receiver?

It caused our ancestors to climb out of the trees, so it’s not all bad!

I own their device, RTL SDR board with PI, Fine tuning gain and add a filter is must.

The same as @rugomol has shared above?

I thought you might be interested to see an English version of the OP message.

yes… that’s the device

It can be argued that the radiowaves that are transmitted are foreign airwaves, not Chinese. But then a filtering would have to be done at the receiver to eliminate all the Chinese airplane’s ADS-B.
On the other hand, the Great Chinese Firewall can cut directly all those if they are so concerned.

If it’s anything like the bureaucracy that I witness growing up in a socialist regime, that’s not happening easy. FR24 and FA would have to “grease” someone at the highest level or partner with a company that can do that.

I am still amazed how Google is allowed to put up satellite maps of China on Google Earth, in my time in a totalitarian regime, that would be espionage.

That was need & desire which motivated our ancestors, NOT the lust.

There is a clear difference between need, desire, greed and lust.
The need & desire are essential and beneficial. Greed is harmful. Lust is catastrophic.
All Kings, conquerors, dictators, warriors, feudal lords, and mafia god fathers, who waged innumerable number of wars, killings, and caused miseries on a mass scale, were driven by lust for power and lust for wealth.

But for them it was a “need”. Their needs where different than yours. They didn’t need a cellphone or a Raspberry Pi, in that aspect they might think that’s lust

OT: That’s why communism can only fail - it is based on someone’s “needs” not performance. Everyone “needs” are evolving due to the evolving (involving?) level of society. So in the end, everyone feels entitled to everything.

Who was it who said “to be rich is glorious”?

Oh yes, it was Deng Xiao Ping

Such a nice man.

Economic Reformer

Economic Reformer

By the mid-1980s, Deng had introduced economic reforms in agriculture and industry, providing for more local management, and instituted the radical “one child per couple” policy to control China’s burgeoning population. In all these reforms, Deng insisted China remain a socialist nation with central control. Reforms improved the quality of life for all but also created a huge inequality gap between the classes.

“Poverty is not socialism. To be rich is glorious.”

In the mid-1980s, the democracy movement gained momentum and by 1989, Deng Xiaoping’s authoritarian leadership faced opposition. A series of widespread demonstrations at Tiananmen Square shut down the government during a visit by Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. After some hesitation, Deng supported removing the protesters by force. On June 3-4, 1989, the military moved in under the cover of darkness and in a few hours it was all over. Though the international media was present for the Gorbachev visit, they were banned from the Square. It is believed that hundreds if not thousands of demonstrators were killed that night.

How did we get from ADS-B to Deng?

His authoritarian central control crushed democracy and, as a direct consequence, created the environment that can ban radio receivers.

Oh, no that was way before that, when some guys called Marx and Engels created a new religion called communism, based solely on greed and envy.

wya_1qu4awvmsaop9eulebq8o7e

That was not based on greed or envoy. It was an extreme reaction to an extreme exploitation of working class during industrial revolution.

Of course anything extreme is not good and stable. If you move a pendulum from its equilibrium to one side, it will not move back to equilibrium, it to move to the other side. As Newton’s law says “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction”.

The most successful and long-lasting things are those which are moderate. The extremism may bring immediate achievements, but ultimately it’s negative affects more than counter balance its gains, and it fails in the long run.

The economy is not a pie and you taking a larger piece is greed. The pie is unlimited in size. You get ahead of others by working harder, being smarter, taking risks, getting an education, not getting pregnant before finishing high school, etc, etc etc. What is wrong with that? We live in a capitalist society. Greed is good.

Nothing in this world is totally good. Everything has plus and minus. If capitalism was totally plus, and no minus, then there would be no intense reaction against it and communism will not be born. The minus point of unregulated capitalism is exploitation of working class, and this is what gave birth to communism.

Didn’t say greed is the greatest thing ever but neither of us live in an unregulated society (yours is just a little more regulated than mine  but I think we are headed that way) I think the last really communist state was China under Mao and it has long since died along with millions of Chinese people.
So arguing the absolutes serves no purpose at all. Although I have a degree in political science I consider this an argument akin to angles on the head of a pin.
One thing I do know is that it has nothing at all with flight tracking and ADSB.

I enjoy your posts. Thank you for being here and all your help.
