Boeing 737-1000?

Im just throwing this out there.

If Boeing did not come up with the upcoming and more efficient Boeing 737 MAX, would Boeing have started a design for the Next Generation Boeing 737-1000? If so, how many passengers would it hold, and what would be the range?

Currently, I don’t think the MAX line will include an aircraft larger than the current 737-900. Although, if a larger 737 were to be introduced, it would probably seat around 200 in a 2 class configuration and 220 in a one class configuration.
