Bill Lear, Jr., Passes Away at 81
Bill Lear, Jr., namesake of the developer of the Lear Jet, has died at age 81. The younger Lear detailed his life in an autobiography, “Fly Fast … Sin Boldly - Flying, Spying and Surviving.” Among the anecdotes in the book is how, at 17, he borrowed $1,250 from his father to buy a World War II-surplus P-38 fighter to compete in the Bendix Trophy races.
This was just a little note on the sidebar of the newsletter. I hope they do some kind of feature article in an upcoming issue.
